The Sheet Metal Welder is responsible for welding thin metal sheets (2-
6mm) using MIG, TIG, or stick welding techniques. This role involves ensuring welds meet high-quality standards, performing surface preparation and postweld cleaning, and inspecting welds for quality and structural integrity. The welder will also maintain welding equipment, document weld parameters, and follow all safety procedures. This role requires proficiency in various welding techniques, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Required Skills:
1. Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding for thin sheet metal (2-6mm)
2. Skilled in surface preparation, including cleaning, grinding, and buffing welded
surfaces to achieve a smooth finish.
3. Ability to inspect welded joints for defects such as cracks, porosity, and insufficient
fusion.
4. Familiar with blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings and welding
specifications.
5. Attention to detail to ensure welds meet quality standards and tolerances.
6. Knowledge of welding safety standards (OSHA or local regulations).
Required Experience:
1. More than 5 years of experience as a welder, specifically in sheet metal
fabrication.
2. Experience in welding thin metal sheets (2-6mm) with MIG, TIG, or stick
welding.
3. Experience in grinding, buffing, and polishing welded surfaces to ensure a
high-quality finish.
4. Familiarity with welding equipment maintenance, including consumable
replacements and routine upkeep.
