panels and related products. The operator will set up and program the CNC punching
machine, ensuring the production of high-quality sheet metal parts by running the machine’s programs efficiently. The role also involves troubleshooting, performing routine machine maintenance, and optimizing the machine’s performance.
This position requires expertise in adjusting settings, selecting tools, and reading technical drawings to ensure parts are produced to exact specifications. The operator must also be able to modify CNC programs for efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize material wastage.
Required Skills:
1. Expertise in operating CNC punching machines, specifically Prima Power CNC punching machines.
2. Strong knowledge in programming CNC punching machines, including G-code, M-code, and associated software.
3. Proficient in tool selection, tooling setup, and configuring the punching machine for various sheet metal types.
4. Experience with various punching tools (e.g., turret punches, dies) and adjusting settings for different tasks.
5. Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving machine faults, as well as issues related to parts being produced.
6. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM files to ensure parts are produced to exact specifications.
7. Precision measurement skills, including the use of calipers, micrometers, or other measuring devices to verify dimensions and ensure part accuracy. 8. Ability to optimize CNC programs to improve machine efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize material wastage.
9. Routine machine maintenance experience to ensure the machine operates at peak efficiency, including preventative maintenance and
troubleshooting.
10. Familiarity with sheet metal types and properties (e.g., SS, AL, MS, GA) and their behavior during the punching process.
11. Proficient in progressive punching, multi-hit, and combination punching techniques.
12. Ability to perform real-time process monitoring and adjust parameters to ensure consistent results.
13. Experience with embossing and other advanced punching techniques.
14. Experience with machine alignment and calibration, ensuring precise tolerances are met during production.
Required Experience:
1. Minimum 8 years of experience in operating and programming CNC punching machines, with specific experience using Prima Power CNC punching machines.
2. Proven experience in panel production, cabinet and box fabrication, and LV/MV
panel punching in a switchgear environment.
3. Experience with CAD/CAM software and the ability to interpret and execute
technical drawings for CNC operations.
4. Strong background in tool selection, punching configuration, and machine setup
to optimize production and efficiency.
5. Familiarity with routine maintenance and the ability to diagnose and correct
machine issues quickly to minimize downtime.
6. Experience with multi-tool stations for high-efficiency punching and performing
complex punching tasks.
